Drivers on the sandy access track to Goolwa Beach are inadvertently entertaining beach goers as dozens get bogged each day.
Eight vehicles were bogged in a space of just 30 minutes on Boxing Day with one grey Landcruiser stuck three times before being successfully towed back to Beach Road.
The administrators of the Goolwa Beach Facebook page are imploring drivers to prepare their vehicles before entering the ramp to help reduce the queue of traffic on Beach Road.
They also expressed frustration with the actions of one group who tried to take their vehicle into a blocked off track near the Murray Mouth and had to be helped out.
Vehicles should not be driven into the dunes and drivers can be fined for doing so.
Signs at the start of the track warn that it should be used by four-wheel drive vehicles only and that retrieval of bogged vehicles will be at the owner’s expense.
Vehicles are permitted on the 10km of beach from the access track to the mouth of the Murray River.
The sandy track is now over-looked by the new Goolwa Surf Life Saving Club and the lookout.
