Goolwa’s ‘Off the Bridge’ New Year’s Eve fireworks have been given the go-ahead by SA Health.
Last year’s event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic but the 2021 fireworks will be back in spectacular colour, lighting up the skies over Goolwa and Hindmarsh Island.
The organisers have been told that the event can go ahead with spectators watching in small family groups and COVID-19 bubbles.
The local community has already started contributing to the event with donations received from Elders Goolwa, Goolwa Dental Surgery, Kies Home Timber and Hardware, Priceline Pharmacy, Foodland Goolwa, The Brew Box and Bombora on the River.
Donation jars have been placed around the town. Supporters can also contact the Off the Bridge Facebook page to offer support and donations.
There will be some road and on water restrictions while the event takes place with the Hindmarsh Island Bridge closed for a short time.
Goolwa and Hindmarsh Island residents are advised to make sure their pets are secure and comfortable while the display takes place.
