The Education Department has appointed Rebecca Moore as principal of the new Goolwa High School, which is set to open for the 2022 school year.

Ms Moore was most recently a principal consultant for primary and secondary schools in the south of Adelaide.

"My experience working with leaders, teachers, and young people, particularly of high school age, has provided me with a valuable insight into quality care and education from year 7 to 12," she says.

"It's an absolute honour to be leading the new high school in Goolwa which will be nestled within a community that, like me, is clearly passionate about its people and place.

“I am committed to building a culture of high standards, continuous improvement, and innovation where I will strive to bring the local education community along with me on this collective journey.”

The new school will be located at the former Investigator College site on the corner of Cadell Street and Glendale Grove in Goolwa.

It will accommodate approximately 400 local students, with capacity to increase in line with anticipated growth in the area.

Up to $10 million will be invested to refurbish and upgrade the site, to improve the school’s facilities in readiness to welcome its first students at the beginning of 2022.

The new school will form part of an educational hub for the town, located near Goolwa Primary School and Children’s Centre, delivering a community asset that will support the area as it grows in the coming years.
