Goolwa woman arrested

A man and woman have been arrested following a pursuit in the western suburbs last night.


Just before 11.45pm on Sunday 3 April patrols were conducting speed detection duties at the intersection of South and Regency Road when they detected a Subaru travelling at 137km/h in a 60 km/h zone. 


Police followed the car on South Road and attempted to stop it at the Port Road intersection the driver refused to stop. The driver turned onto Port Road heading east, patrols pursed the car for a short distance but terminated for safety reasons. 


PolAir were called in and tracked the car along Port Road onto James Congdon Drive before the driver crashed into a pole at a shopping complex. 


The driver and passenger ran from the car but were quickly apprehended by patrols. 


A 27-year-old man from Elizabeth South, the alleged driver was charged with speed dangerous, drive unregistered, drive unlicenced, engage in police pursuit, acts to endanger, extreme speed, leave the scene of an accident, hinder police, resist police, and refuse to state name and address.  He was refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today. 


The passenger a 46-year-old Goolwa woman was searched by patrols, she was in possession of a knife and hammer. She was charged with two counts of carrying an offensive weapon. The woman was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 16 May.
