The horse drawn tram Victor Harbor will remain out of action until next Thursday, 2 June.
Rail replacement work is currently underway on Granite Island and a new platform is being installed.
The tram has been closed since May 2. It was originally expected to resume service this weekend.
Two sections of rail are being replaced and two switches repaired.
The Victor Harbor Horse Tram Authority has advised that the horses are making the most of their holiday, grazing in their paddock, being taken for rides and enjoying a few dips in the ocean.
Pedestrian access to Granite Island remains open but visitors are asked to observe the signage and exclusion zones that are temporarily in place.
