The federal government’s Strengthening Rural Communities program of grants is now open for applications.
This program aims to give not-for-profit organisations in regional communities funding for a broad range of initiatives that benefit local communities as they emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Two funding streams are currently available to rebuilding regional communities.
Stream 1 offers up to $10,000 for communities with less than 50,000 people.
Stream 2 offers $10,001-$50,000 for communities classified as remote, regional or rural.
A broad range of charitable projects are considered under this program, including:
· Delivering, or providing activities, events, programs and services.
· Purchasing or hiring equipment and materials.
· Community infrastructure projects.
· Organisational capacity building.
· Community resource development.
There is a total funding pool of $300,000 in Stream 1 for this round of applications, which closes Wednesday 1 March.
