A grass and scrub fire on a property at Finniss, near Strathalbyn and Currency Creek, has been contained.

The CFS responded with 15 CFS trucks which were crewed by approximately 40 CFS firefighters. Four firebombers and a helicopter were also used on the fire. Local farm fire units assisted in halting the forward spread of the fire.

A CFS Strike Team will attend the fire from 17h30PM this evening to continue mopping up and fire patrol operations. Local CFS crews will further continue with fire patrols ahead of the predicted hot weather.

CFS reminds the public to remain aware to this fire. Smoke will be visible but will no longer pose any threat to the public.
