The Great Southern Cricket Association (GSCA) competition resumes tomorrow after the Christmas/New Year break. Round 8 will see five, one-day games played, with the Noarlunga (3rd) v Port Elliot (2nd) game looking like the match-of-the-round. With five rounds remaining in the season, Goolwa are on top of the ladder and are yet to taste defeat. Port Elliot, Noarlunga, McLaren Districts, Encounter Bay and Myponga-Sellicks round out the top-six. Yankalilla and Willunga are still within touching distance of finals action, while Mount Compass and Aldinga will try to play ‘spoiler’ in the last couple of months of the season.
Cam Lintern (Encounter Bay) 225 runs, Luke Giddings (Goolwa) 219, Justin Twartz (McLaren Districts) 210, Simon Roberts (Willunga) 200, and Jason Scarff (Noarlunga) 191, are the top-five run scorers after round seven. Jayden Crees (Goolwa) 32 wickets, Simon Roberts (Willunga) 22, Blake Bailey (Encounter Bay) 18, Simon Donaldson (Port Elliot) 17, and Jim Ryan (McLaren Districts) 16, are the leading bowlers.
