The Community Nursery at the District Council of Yankalilla depot, on Inman Valley Road, has been undergoing a transformation.
An on-site coordinator from Conservation Volunteers Australia has taken over running the program of events and education.
The organised work area has an all-weather shelter and equipment levels are improving.
A partnership between the council, the Normanville Natural Resource Centre, the NRM Board and Conservation Volunteers Australia has enabled expansion of the number of days each month that the nursery will open.
The program has been funded by a grant from SA Health and allows volunteers to learn new skills and enjoy being with other like-minded people.
The nursery will generally be open on Mondays and Wednesdays between 9.30am and 3pm, although times will vary when excursions and workshops are planned.
There will be a seed collection field trip on Monday 16 March and a Newland Head Conservation Park field trip on Monday 30 March. Numbers for field trips are limited.
New volunteers are welcome - contact Wendy on 8558 3644 or Kathryn on 0409 193 924 to join this exciting project.
