Grow a veggie patch from scratch

Would you like to grow your own delicious organic veggies but don’t know where to start?

Go along to Aldinga Library on Saturday 10 October 10, from 10am to 11am to learn how to create a veggie patch from scratch.

Meet experienced backyard veggie gardener Sam Ryan, who grows all his veggies from a garden that is just three years old!

You will learn:

• What to plant in spring for your summer veggie crop, with a special focus on tomatoes.

• Where to locate your veggie patch.

• How to identify and prepare the soil.

• How to care for your garden until harvest.

The $6 cost includes a tomato seedling to take home to start off your own patch.

Bookings essential via Eventbrite.

Sustainable Onkaparinga brings this event to you in collaboration with Onkaparinga Libraries.

Sam Ryan from Folk of all Trades has been growing veggies with his partner Dani since 2010, where it all started in a 2 square metre bed.

Nowadays they grow all the vegetables they need in around 100 square metres of garden, with plenty to give away to friends, family and neighbours.

Sam studied Horticulture at Urrbrae TAFE and has a Permaculture Design Certificate from The Food Forest at Gawler.

His favourite vegetable to grow and eat is Romanesco Broccoli.

Aldinga Library is at 11 Central Way Aldinga Beach.
