The Fleurieu App is celebrating one year since its inception - and what a year to be in business!
Fleurieu App founder Susie Williams is proud of what her small team has accomplished over the past 12 months, particularly in one of the most interesting and challenging years in modern history.
Being a finalist in the McLaren Vale Business Awards only weeks after the Fleurieu App began was just one highlight. Susie has also enjoyed speaking with community groups all over the Fleurieu Peninsula, having numerous interviews on community radio, meeting and working with the Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island's amazing business people and sharing the stories of this wonderful region.
To date, there have been over 4,500 Fleurieu App users, and 256,000 page/event views.
At time of writing, there are more than 1000 followers on Facebook and 999 followers on Instagram.
Susie says one of the best things about the App, particularly at this time in history, is being able to support other small businesses.
"I am conscious that businesses have been put through the wringer in the past year, first by our devastating summer of bushfires and then of course Covid-19, which has had an impact on every small business, including ours," Susie says.
"We know there are not a huge amount of dollars floating around at this point, which is why it is even more of a privilege that we have been trusted to promote our clients' businesses through our App - it's incredibly humbling that they see value in what we do in bringing attention to what they do, and we are so pleased to work with our growing pool of like-minded, passionate businesses."
Through the App’s ‘WIN’ button, prizes donated by local businesses are regularly given away, but for something extra special to celebrate the App’s one-year anniversary, Susie gave away an exclusive print of one of her photographs (Susie is also a professional photographer, behind Susie Williams Photography).
Lucky reader Linda was the recipient, selected at random from a huge pool of entrants.
"One of the best things about running the ‘WIN’ page is the joy in people’s voices when you ring to say they have won something,” Susie says.
"It’s also another great way for us to help spread the support for our business clients.”
It’s fair to say the Fleurieu App team punches above its weight, with a core team of four responsible for publishing need-to-know news and sport stories from the Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island, promoting events, sharing the details of local suppliers to our growing audience, and supporting advertisers to get their messages to Fleurieu and KI locals and visitors.
"I am so grateful for the amazing team the Fleurieu App is made of - without them we wouldn't be here,” Susie says.
There are some exciting things in the works, with the team setting their sights on lofty heights.
"Our goal is to double our app users and clients over the next six months,” Susie says.
"We are very excited about the future, we have so much planned for the app, and lots of community and lifestyle content coming up."
Susie sends a special thanks to the Fleurieu App users and clients for their support, and looks forward to taking the App to new levels in the 12 months ahead, and beyond.
