Have a say on central Fleurieu parks

A draft management plan for the parks of the central Fleurieu Peninsula is now available for community feedback.

It covers proposed strategic management of Hindmarsh Valley National Park and Bullock Hill, Cox Scrub, Finniss, Gum Tree Gully, Hesperilla, Kyeema, Mount Billy, Mount Magnificent, Myponga, Nixon-Skinner, Scott, Spring Mount, Stipiturus and Yulte conservation parks.

The Department for Environment and Water (DEW) will collate, analyse and use feedback to develop the final plan.

This will be submitted to the Minister for Climate, Environment and Water for adoption.

DEW developed the Parks of the Central Fleurieu Peninsula Draft Management Plan following the proclamation of Hindmarsh Valley National Park in December 2021, with input from First Nations, key stakeholders, park managers and technical experts.

The parks in this plan have similar ecological and geographic features and are subject to the same range of issues.

DEW says establishing one management plan supports a consistent approach to biodiversity conservation and public visitation across these parks.

Full details of the draft management plan and how to have a say can be found on the website.

The consultation period will close at 5pm on Monday 28 August.
