The City of Onkaparinga is proposing to ban motor vehicles from travelling along the unmade sections of Settlement Road and Foggo Road in McLaren Flat.

The proposal is in response to concerns that have been raised by the community relating to inappropriate vehicle access.

These concerns include fire risk, and antisocial behaviour occurring on the unmade sections of the road near residences and vineyards.

The two road sections proposed for closure are:

  • A 258 metre long section of Settlement Road starting at the intersection with Foggo Road and extending south-east to approximately 870 metres north-west of Penneys Road.
  • A 162 metre long section of Foggo Road starting around a kilometre south of Kays Road to approximately 865 metres north of Penneys Road.

The closures would be made under Section 32 of the Road Traffic Act 1961.

This would still allow non-motorised access for pedestrians, horse riders and bicycles, which use the Settlement Road section of the Willunga Basin Trail.

The council is now seeking feedback from the community on the proposed road closures.

To have say, go to the council’s Your Say webpage. The consultation period closes at 4pm on Tuesday,18 April.
