Have a say on sports and recreation precinct

The City of Victor Harbor will hold two community listening posts as part of its public consultation on the proposed Regional Community, Sport and Recreation Precinct.

The council wants community input to help determine a preferred location for The Precinct, as well as its uses and users, operating model and potential funding sources.

The listening posts will be held from 11am to 2pm on Thursday 21 April, near the post office in Ocean Street, and from 10am to 4pm on Wednesday 27 April in Victor Central shopping centre.

The council says it has already undertaken significant planning to explore options for improved sport and recreation facilities in Victor Harbor to help meet the needs of the growing and diversifying community.

Some elements of The Precinct have already been determined; it will include a medium scale multi-purpose community facility to help meet the urgent needs of growing indoor sports.

The public consultation aims to consider how the built facility could work within a broader precinct that serves more than just the sporting community.

There are currently three options for a location: Armstrong Road, Encounter Bay; Lot 202, near the TAFE site; and Adelaide Road, at the corner of Waterport Road.

Full details of The Precinct and how to have a say can be found on the City of Victor Harbor website, or complete the online survey.

Public consultation closes at 5pm on Friday 29 April.
