Hawks win their first game of the SFLW season

Hackham won their first game of the season after defeating Blackwood by 26 points during round four action in the Southern Football League Women’s (SFLW) competition at Blackwood yesterday. Tallara Power kicked four goals to fire the Hawks to a 6.4 (40) to 1.8 (14) victory. Other good players for the Hawks were Claire Wheeler (2 goals), Laney Moore, Alana Browne, Katelyn Wilson and Shannon Gaskell. Best players for Blackwood included Jade Quinn, Charlotte Rungie, Soraya Huppatz, Vanessa Kitto, Lila Cormack-Pinder and Ella Parris.


Cove consolidated their spot in the top-four with a comprehensive 150-point win against Christies Beach at Bice Oval yesterday. The Cobras led by 42 points at quarter time, 75 points at halftime, and 125 points at the last change before winning 23.12 (150) to 0.0 (0). Emily Risitano kicked six goals for the Cobras and she was well supported by Ella Gill (5 goals), Jaime Norup (4) and Cally Swalue (4). Best players for the Cobras included Genevieve Mumme, Lauren Kenny, Emily Hocking, Alexis Harvey, Dana O'Brien and Gill. Best for the Saints were Tara Vivar-Hayes, Georgia Payne, Madison Marsh, Shania-Rayne Walker-Murphy, Hayley Haire and Shaylee Hobbs.


Jessica Couch continued her fine season for Flagstaff Hill as she kicked nine goals for the Falcons in their 140-point win against Ironbank Cherry Gardens yesterday. Couch now has 30 goals this season from just four games. ‘Flaggies’ led by 66 points at halftime, before kicking a further 11 unanswered goals in the second half to win 21.14 (140) to 0.0 (0). Best players for Flagstaff Hill were Tiana Lush, Ebony Scanlan, Abbie Butler, Couch, Brooke May and Rachel Crockart, while the Thunderers were best served by Tahlia Ward, Teagan Del Torre-Darrington, Emma Byatt, Jessie O’Brien and Audrey Myers.

 

Port Noarlunga received a forfeit win against Aldinga. 


Reynella had the bye.
