People living on the south coast have been asked to contribute to a study of changes to the coastline to help plan for the future.
The City of Victor Harbor has initiated a project to investigate risks that may impact the coastline as a result of the changing climate, and to identify management and mitigation options.
A similar study was undertaken in 2013, and the current project will help to review and update this information.
The council says Victor Harbor's stunning coastline is a vital feature of the region, providing both tourism and lifestyle benefits to the community.
It recognises the importance and value of the dynamic coast and endeavours to actively protect the seascape and landscape.
Council has engaged a consulting team, Integrated Coasts, to undertake this work and develop a Coastal Adaptation Strategy.
The initial phase of the project involves establishing a baseline understanding of how the coast in Victor Harbor has been operating over time and assess risks and vulnerabilities.
The council invites input from the community on local coastal issues and experiences to support the initial phase of the project.
It wants contributions of information and historical photographs relating to coastal changes and storm events in the Victor Harbor area.
These contributions can be submitted using a digital map and contributors will be prompted to provide comments and details on the event or change.
There will be further opportunity for community feedback during later stages of the project as the strategy is developed.
