Alexandrina Council has opened nominations for the region’s annual heritage awards to highlight best practice in heritage projects across the region.
Projects can be nominated in six categories for the 2025 awards: Heritage tourism; Conservation Practice; Adaptive Reuse; Heritage Gardens and Fencing; Historic Research; and the Lorraine Pomery Service to Heritage Award.
A seventh category, the Mayoral Award, is judged by the Mayor of Alexandrina.
Nominations are open to the public, the wider Alexandrina community, businesses, industry partners and people who wish to submit an eligible project.
The council has been recognising local heritage through these awards for more than 25 years.
Hosted by its Heritage Advisory Committee, the awards recognise excellence in heritage conservation and research and serve to educate the wider community about the importance of conserving and activating local heritage.
The 2025 heritage awards event will be held in May as part of the SA History Festival. Nominations close on Friday 4 April.
“The Heritage Awards are a beloved Council event that celebrates our unique history in the Alexandrina region,” Mayor Keith Parkes says.
“I encourage community members to get involved and nominate those in the community who deserve recognition for their heartfelt heritage projects and preservation practices.”
