The Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Board has released the Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Plan 2021-26.
It was formally launched by Environment and Water Minister David Speirs at Myponga on Wednesday 29 September.
The plan will guide the landscape stewardship and restoration of the region over the next five years, setting strategies for addressing some of the region’s biggest challenges and opportunities.
Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Board Chair David Greenhough says the plan was developed with significant input from the community.
“On behalf of the board, I would like to thank the community members, organisations and stakeholders that contributed ideas during consultation.
He says the board has worked hard to integrate their passion, aspirations and ideas into the plan.
The Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Plan sets out five priorities as high level ambitions for the region:
“These priorities and the focus areas in the plan will guide and coordinate the contributions of people and organisations across the region,” Mr Greenhough says.
“They reflect the key needs and values of the region, and address our collective challenges
“We heard from the community that they wanted the plan to be bold and address the big issues – including biodiversity loss and climate change.
“The way we respond to these challenges will influence the health of the region. We are keen to build partnerships to tackle these challenges.”
“We encourage everyone to read the plan. It is going to take all of us working together to achieve the plan’s vision, for a region inspired to protect its uniquely biodiverse and productive landscapes into the future.”
