The Hills Football League (HFL) season will begin on Saturday 4 July with both Division 1 and Country Division playing four games. Each division has nine clubs so teams will play eight games and each will have a bye. At this stage Division 1 will have a 'top 5' with four weeks of finals, culminating in the Grand Final on the 26th of September. Country Divison will have a 'top 4' with three weeks of finals, culminating in the Grand Final on the 19th of September.

Some games of interest in the first round include reigning premier Hahndorf taking on arch rival Mount Barker at Hahndorf Oval while in the Country Divison it's a re-match of the 2019 Grand Final as Gumeracha host Kersbrook.
