In only their second game for the season due to weather interruptions in previous rounds, Strathalbyn took on Torrens Valley at Anembo Park in Mount Barker. Strathalbyn batted first but were sent from the diamond with two catches and an out at first base ending the innings. Torrens Valley were also out quickly in their batting dig with an out at first and catches taken by Emily Eglitis in the outfield and Kelly Roe at first base holding them scoreless. The second batting dig for Strath was also quick with no runs gained with Torrens Valley fielding well with two outs at first base and a catch in the outfield by Mackenzie Ween. This brought Torrens Valley back in to bat and Strathalbyn were on fire in the field with a catch in the outfield by Tash Mayes and two K2’s to pitcher/catcher combo Tessa Norris to Kim Cutting for a three up/three down innings with no score. Strathalbyn needed to get on the scoreboard and the innings started with Tiahna Mayes getting safely on to base and forcing an error to get her to second before she stole third base. Norris had a hit to the outfield which brought Mayes home but the next three batters got out which left Norris stranded but with one run finally on the board. Some big hitting and great running from Torrens Valley brought in six runs before Strath could make the three outs with a catch to Cutting at home, a runner out for interference and another catch to Eglitis in the outfield. Strathalbyn’s fourth turn at bat was again quick with three up/ three down, two outs at first base and a K2 to pitcher/catcher combination Courtney May to Georgia Ballard. Strath needed to hold Torrens Valley as much as they could and started well with an out at first base but again great hitting and base running brought in another three runs. A tag out at first and some good fielding from shortstop Crystal Karayiannis, who threw to first for the last out to end the innings. The final score was Torrens Valley 9 to Strathalbyn 1.

In the other ‘A’ grade game, Hahndorf had a big 19-1 win over USC Bears to remain undefeated and on top of the ladder.
