ANZAC Day commemorations were cancelled by COVID in 2020 but they will resume in 2021, on Sunday 25 April, although restrictions will limit many activities.

Attendance at ANZAC Day Services throughout Alexandrina Council region, including Goolwa and Port Elliot, will be by invitation only, but Strathalbyn RSL will host a Dawn Service at the cenotaph from 6am.

At Victor Harbor the Dawn Service starts at 5.30am, followed by a march starting at 10.30am from Soldiers Memorial Reserve.

The march will proceed via the Esplanade, and Flinders Parade to Soldiers Memorial Gardens. More details are on the Victor Harbor RSL Facebook page

The Anzac Day Dawn Service at Port Noarlunga is a ticketed event from 6-8am. For more information contact the Port Noarlunga / Christies Beach RSL Club.

The McLaren Vale service has been cancelled.

For those unable to attend a public service the RSL has encouraged people to reprise last year’s Light Up the Dawn activities and offers a guide to conducting a private commemoration on its website

They suggest holding a mini-service in the driveway, at the front gate or on the veranda.

Alternative ways to commemorate the day include :

  • Listening to and watching media broadcasts and online coverage.

  • Visiting a local war memorial at any time of the day, other than dawn, within exercise/recreation and social distancing conditions.

  • Support a local RSL by visiting during the day.

All commemoration events will be conducted in a COVID-safe manner, with QR code check in required.
