The public amenities located behind The Port Elliot Bowling Club at Horseshoe Bay will be upgraded.
Alexandrina Council says Horseshoe Bay is covered by a local heritage overlay and the facility is suitable to undergo refurbishment with current facilities rather than full replacement.
Upgrade works will start after the April school holidays and are expected to be completed in June.
They will include roof and gutter replacement; lighting upgrade to include LEDs with sensor activation; and an internal fit-out with new energy efficient appliances and water saving products.
The exterior will be painted and the footpath outside will be upgraded.
Temporary exclusion zones during the works will maintain pedestrian flow, ensure public safety, and secure the work site.
Chief Executive Officer Nigel Morris says the total project budget of $280K will be funded by Alexandrina Council.
“It’s great to see these toilets that have been part of the Horseshoe Bay landscape can be upgraded and refurbished to meet environmental and accessibility standards.”
During the works period, visitors to Horseshoe Bay won’t be inconvenienced as the public toilets on Commodore Reserve will remain open.
