Alexandrina Council has given the south coast an Easter gift, with the Port Elliot jetty opening for use over the long weekend.

The popular Horseshoe Bay facility has been closed for more than a year, since it was damaged in a storm in early February 2023.

The council announced on its Facebook page that the new stairs have been installed and its contractors had finished most of the repair work.

They are still waiting on materials to arrive from interstate will need to return after the Easter break to make the final touched required.

Repairs to the historic jetty, built in 1852, have been facilitated by a state government grant of $174,000 from the SA Jetties Renewal Program.
