Port Elliot’s Horseshoe Bay is without its swimming pontoon, after it washed ashore in stormy weather on the weekend of 14 and 15 September.
Alexandrina Council says the pontoon’s mooring worked loose and the structure has been removed for an assessment of the damage and repairs.
Port Elliot Surf Life Saving Club helped to safely secure the adrift pontoon prior to its removal.
The council aims to have the pontoon back in the Bay before the peak summer period, which will require specialised divers to reattach it.
