Around 5pm on Sunday 12 January, approximately 18 CFS firefighters responded to a house fire in Aldinga Beach, with five trucks and one bulk-water carrier. They were supported by SA Police and SA Ambulance Service.
On arrival, the firefighters found the garage fully involved in the fast-moving fire. They successfully contained the blaze to the garage and prevented further spread, saving the rest of the house with minimal damage.
Thanks to their quick response, the damage was limited to an estimated $50,000—much less than what could have occurred if the firefighters had not arrived when they did.
All occupants were able to evacuate the house safely before the firefighters arrived.
Volunteer firefighters remained on site to check the roof and crawl spaces, monitor for hot spots, and extinguish any smouldering areas. The cause of the fire is as yetunknown.
