Intersection of art and animal health on show

South Coast Regional Arts Centre will host an art exhibition by Dr Nicola Hooper, called ZOONOSES, from 17 February.

Through drawing and lithography, Nicola Hooper uses fairy-tale iconography and rhymes to explore concepts surrounding zoonoses - animal diseases that can infect humans.

Dr Nicola Hooper has taken the darker side of nature and turned it into exquisite, thought provoking art.

Her touring exhibition explores how we perceive certain animals in the context of fear and disease.

It will be launched at special event at the gallery on Friday 16 February from 5pm to 6.30pm.

The artist will give a talk at the gallery on the first day of the exhibition, Saturday 17 February, from 10am to 11am.

She will also hold a workshop on polyester lithography that afternoon, from 1pm to 3.30pm, at the Goolwa Community Centre.

It is free to attend, but booking is essential, via phone - 8555 3941 or email. [email protected]

South Coast Regional Arts Centre is on Goolwa Terrace in Goolwa; gallery hours are Wednesday to Friday 11am-4pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am- 4pm.
