Ironbank Cherry Gardens taste victory in SFL Women's

Ironbank Cherry Gardens won their first game of the season after defeating Christies Beach by 90 points during round three action in the Southern Football League Women’s (SFLW) competition at Ironbank on Sunday. The Thunderers led by a handy 33 points at the last change, before kicking 9.4 to 0.1 in the final term to win 15.10 (100) to 1.4 (10). Jesse Smith and Olivia Walker-Obushak kicked four goals each for Ironbank Cherry Gardens, while Chloe Brooks kicked the only goal for the Saints. Best players for Ironbank Cherry Gardens included Walker-Obushak, Tahlia Ward, Smith, Lauren Kahl, Audrey Myers and Morgan Daniels. The Saints were best served by Brooks, Lekisha Nelson, Madison Marsh, Shakaya Johnson, Maisie Hunt and Maddison Payne.


Reynella won their second game of the season after a convincing 77-point win at home against Aldinga. The Wine Flies win was set up by a dominant first half which saw them lead by 56 points at halftime, before they ran out winners 13.12 90) to 2.1 (13). Sarah Bourn (6), Tayla Wright (4) and Caitlin Williams (2) were the leading goalkickers for Reynella, while Cameron Twigden and Audrey Worthley were the goalkickers for Aldinga. Other good players for the Wine Flies included Sienna Garner, Scarlett Bradford and Summer Weir. Aldinga was best served by Daisy Barber, Molly Reynolds, Skye Wilson, Elkie Cairns, Taryn Vizgaudis and Twigden. 



Reigning premiers Port Noarlunga remained undefeated after a come-from-behind nine-point win against Cove. The Cobras started well to lead by 14 points at quarter time, before ‘Porties’ kicked the only three goals of the match from then on to win 3.7 (25) to 2.4 (16). Zoe Flesfader was named best for the Cockle Divers with two goals and she was well supported by Maddy Craggs, Abby Dittmar, Kalahni Bissi, Isabella Seed and Eilish O’Hanlon. Best for Cove included Ella Gill, Dana O'Brien, Lauren Kenny, Jaymie Savaidis, Angelique Dean and Emily Risitano.


Flagstaff Hill are also undefeated following their 35-point win at Blackwood yesterday. The Falcons set up their win with four answered goals in the second quarter to take a handy 27-point lead to halftime. The second half was pretty even with the Falcons eventually winning 9.8 (62) to 4.3 (27). Jessica Couch kicked five goals for Flagstaff Hill to take her tally to 21 goals in three games, while Charlotte Taylor kicked two majors for Blackwood. Tiana Lush, Brooke Watson, Chloe Blake, Emma Hodgson, Elise Winton and Ava Knuckey were named best for Flagstaff Hill. Best for Blackwood included Simi Dhaliwal, Amber Cloughessy, Mikayla Heddle, Charlotte Rungie, Lila Cormack-Pinder and Jade Quinn.
