COVID-19 has cancelled pageants across the Fleurieu but the show will go on for Kangaroo Island, where Advance Kingscote has organised a modified version.
It will take place at Kingscote Oval on Friday 18 December, with public entry from 5pm.
It’s not too late to join in with a float, with organiser John Clements putting out a Facebook call saying it doesn’t have to be fancy – just fun.
“Tinsel up your tractor or truck, whack on a Santa hat or Elf ears and just join in; I guarantee you will have fun and give joy to others.”
The muster point for floats is at the car park adjacent to the old police station. All floats must arrive by no later than 5.30pm, where a marshal will attend from 4.30pm.
Due to the route, children on decorated bikes and those in fancy dress are asked to muster at the oval gates on Centenary Avenue to join the float procession, which will arrive at the oval around 6.30pm.
The spirit of Christmas will be alive and well for the KI community this pageant, even if it arrives in a slightly different form.
