On Monday 8 January, detectives from the SA Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET), a partnership between the South Australia Police and the Australian Federal Police arrested a 25-year-old man of no fixed address.
Police commenced the investigation after information was received from Queensland Police Service’s Taskforce Argos.
As a result of the investigation, the man was charged with numerous offences relating to the production and possession of child exploitation material, including the hosting of a website dealing with child exploitation material.
The man was arrested in the Fleurieu Peninsula and refused bail to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later that day.
Detective Senior Sergeant Graham Tomkins of the South Australia Police’s Public Protection Branch says, “The challenges posed by an investigation of this type were significant and officers never gave up on identifying this suspect. Alongside our partner agencies, we are absolutely committed to prosecuting anyone who goes after our community’s most vulnerable. Remember, everything you do online leaves a trace."
