A man will face court tomorrow after breaking into a Victor Harbor jewellery store last night.
Just before 8pm on Saturday 9 October, police were called to the shopping centre on Torrens Street after a witness reported seeing a man armed with a hammer smash the glass window of a jewellery shop.
The man allegedly reached in and grabbed watches and a number of other items before running off.
Police were able to get a detailed description of the suspect from several witnesses at the scene and after reviewing CCTV were able to identify the suspect.
Police patrols searched the area and were able to locate the suspect a couple of hours later still in the town.
The jewellery items have not been recovered at this time and investigations are continuing to locate the stolen property.
A 38-year-old man from Murray Bridge has been charged with serious criminal trespass and theft. He was refused police bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court tomorrow.
SA Police has thanked the public for passing on crucial information that led to the man’s arrest.
