July brings the Almond Blossom Festival to WillungaFamily Fun at the Willunga Almond Blossom Festival

July means the Almond Blossom Festival where it's time to rug up and enjoy outdoor family fun – games, rides, sideshows, food, animals, cooking, demonstrations, music; all the fun of the fair in Willunga.

On Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 July, Willunga’s Recreation Park will be transformed into an extravaganza of family fun. There will be lots of free giant games on the oval and activities run by the Girl Guides and other local groups with free fun for kids of all ages.

Fleurieu kids, it’s time to save your pocket money for the rides and maybe a present for Mum or Dad from the many craft stalls. Don't forget fairy floss and lollies and Dagwood dogs and chips. Grandpas love chips, too.

Lots of parents confide that the Almond Blossom Festival is dangled as a reward for good behaviour in their family – and that lots of kids don’t event know about that much bigger show to the north!

“The kids can do everything here in Willunga, good value, easy access and we’re not far from home when they run out of steam.”

Of course there will be almonds. Almonds for eating. Almonds for cracking. Almonds for cooking. Almonds to take home.

Why not have a crack at the Almond Cracking Competition? Maybe your secret technique will make you the grand champion.

Willunga’s almond blossoms will be a picture worth seeing - Insta-worthy and perfect for picnicking under. Use the self-guided tour map to find the best spot.

Anyone can enter the almond cooking competitions – from kids to grandparents – with categories ranging from biscuits and cakes to novelty items.

The only rule is that they must contain almonds. Entries will be on display in the Festival Hall filled with market stalls and where you can grab tea and scones from the Willunga Evening Branch members, just next door.

Each year the highlight of the cookery competition is the Festival Cake. Charlie Lawrence, Festival Cake winner from 2022, has provided this year’s recipe to make the most of Willunga’s delicious almonds. The recipe is on the website, in the brochure and recipe cards at local venues.

Gates open on Saturday at 11am; roving performers, live music, games, animals and local beer, wine and food will run all day.

Fireworks will light up the night at 7pm. Sunday, the gates open at 10am and our weekend draws to a close at 4pm.

However your family likes their fun, Willunga Almond Blossom Festival is the place you want to be on July 29 and 30.
