Victa Cinema will host a free screening of the film Just a Farmer on Saturday 9 August in Victor Harbor.

A passion project of Victorian farmer Leila Mcdougall, the feature film illustrates the challenges facing rural Australians, reflecting the sometimes harsh reality of life on the farm.

“Our mission is to use the power of storytelling to illuminate the silent struggles within Australian farming communities, raising awareness of mental health issues and the lack of comprehensive medical support in rural areas, fostering empathy, and driving the conversation around mental health. 

“Through Just A Farmer, we aim to inspire collective action, ensuring no farmer faces the darkness alone.”

The morning screening includes a Q&A session with writer, producer and star Leila McDougal.

The free community event starts at 9.30am and a light breakfast will be provided. Register to attend online.
