Kangaroo Island Football is back!

The Kangaroo Island Football League (KIFL) is back after no senior footy was played in 2020 after the bushfire devastation during the summer of 2019/20 followed by the outbreak of COVID-19. It was a triumphant return for a club that was directly affected by the bushfires in the Western Districts Football Club who hosted Kingscote on ANZAC Day with the home side winning the ‘A’ grade clash by 23 points, 13.10 (88) to 9.11 (65). Rhys Bullard and Josh Graham each kicked four goals for Western Districts while Vaughn Virgo kicked three majors for Kingscote. Michael Balas (Western Districts) and Paul Green (Kingscote) were named joint winners of the Jamie Larcombe Memorial Medal. Dylan Lockett, Graham, Cameron Florance and Bullard were other good players for the Saints while Rory Lovering, Zak Siemer, Declan Corby and Virgo were among the best players for Kingscote.

Wisanger got their 2021 campaign off to the perfect start as they travelled to Parndana and came away with a 34-point victory, 14.14 (98) to 9.10 (64). Wisanger had eight different goalkickers with Dustin Cross and Jackson Lockett each kicking three goals for the winners while Jarrad Kelly, Reece Johnston and James Davis all kicked two goals for Parndana. Khyal Stead was awarded the Timothy Turner Memorial Medal for Wisanger and he was well supported by Cross, Liam Sampson, Luke Bowd and Sam Snowball. For Parndana, Trad McMulkin, Zac Trethewey and Frank May were among their side's best players.
