A high range drink driver was caught on Kangaroo Island last night.

About 8.15pm Monday 22 January KI patrols stopped a Toyota ute travelling along Kohinoor Road in Kingscote after checks revealed the car was unregistered.

patrols spoke to the driver, a 60-year-old local man, before submitting him to a breath test. The man allegedly returned a positive reading of 0.225 – over four times the limit.

He was reported for driving unregistered and drink driving. He lost his licence on the spot for 12 months and will appear in the Kangaroo Island Magistrates Court at a later date.
