There was only one local finalist in the 2021 Delicious state awards, with Kangaroo Island Living Honey’s Certified Raw Organic Honey named in the Earth category.
Now in its 16th year, the awards celebrate and honour the best and most innovative producers and produce in Australia.
Over the past weeks, the dedicated panel of state judges have been tasting their way around a bounty of local Aussie produce.
The awards aim to encourage, showcase and reward Australian producers, build awareness of culinary regions and recognise fresh, seasonal food that is produced sustainably with passion and integrity.
Kangaroo Island Living Honey is a family owned and operated bee farm, which produces raw organic honey and honey products.
They have continued to operate despite the challenges posed by last year’s devasting bushfires.
delicious editorial director Kerrie McCallum says: “Although the pandemic still presents challenges, this year’s state judging was as exciting as ever.
“The produce that was tasted across all of the categories was outstanding. Australian producers continue to deliver world-leading produce.”
From here, the state winners’ produce will go on to be tasted by the national judging panel to decide the 2021 Gold Medal Winners and Trophy Winners, and special award winners.
