Kingscote register first win for 2022 in Kangaroo Island Football

Kingscote pulled off a major upset to win their first game of 2022 with an 18-point win against Western Districts during round four action in the Kangaroo Island Football League (KIFL) yesterday. After trailing by five points at quarter time, Kingscote kicked six goals to two in the second term to take a handy 19-point lead at halftime. Western Districts wouldn’t lie down as they cut the margin back to just seven points at the last change. Kingscote steadied in the final term to kick four goals to two and win 13.10 (88) to 10.10 (70). Blake Florance and Riley Puckridge kicked three goals each for Kingscote, while Lleyton Hedges kicked four majors for Western Districts. Paul Green, Puckridge, Jack Grimes, Jordan Connell and Rory Lovering were named best for Kingscote. Best for the previously undefeated Western Districts were Damon Weatherspoon, Cameron Florance, Jack Favilla, Dylan Lockett and Jake Nolan.


Wisanger won their second game of the season with a convincing 65-point win against Dudley United at Penneshaw yesterday. The final scores were Wisanger 20.11 (131) to Dudley United 9.12 (66).Wisanger had eight different goalkickers with Sam Snowball (5), Sam Clifford (4), Jackson Lockett (3) and Luke Shurven (3) leading the way. Kyrrell Barton kicked three goals for Dudley United. Snowball, Dusty Cross, Jai Turner, Liam Sampson and Brok Viney-Obst were named as best players for the Panthers. Sam McLeay, Seb Wiech and Shade Evans were among Dudley United’s best players.
