Langhorne Creek local, former EFS student and World Record Holder Michael Roeger will represent Australia in the Men’s T46 Marathon at the Toyko Paralympics tomorrow morning.
The race is scheduled to start at 7:20am South Australian time.
Michael holds the current world record for the T46 Marathon of 2:18:52 and so should pass the finish line sometime between 9:30 and 10am.
Michael played junior football and cricket at Langhorne Creek and attended Eastern Fleurieu School.
He was also Strathalbyn’s Young Citizen of the Year in 2017.
This will be his fourth Paralympics games, having represented Australia in 2008, 2012 and 2016 in middle distance running events.
He won a bronze medal in the 1500 metre event at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.

On Friday he posted a map of the marathon’s route and shared some of the many messages of support he has received from school children, promising to reply for all them while he quarantines on his return to Australia.

Tomorrow is also the last day of the 2020 Paralympics.
