Late rates for Victor

City of Victor Harbor ratepayers will get an extra month to pay the next quarterly rates, due to a technology glitch.

This has delayed issue of the council’s third quarter rates notices, resulting in an extension of their due date for payment.

The third rates’ instalment for this financial year was due to be paid by 1 March but has been extended to 31 March.

Legally, councils must issue rates notices at least 30 days and no more than 60 days before the due date.

The council says the delay occurred due to challenges with data migration during its transition to a new corporate system.

“These issues require resolution by the software provider and cannot be rectified within the usual notice release timeframe.

“Extending the due date allows sufficient time for the identified issues to be resolved and for the printing and delivery of notices.”

Fourth quarter rates notices are expected to be issued on the usual schedule, with the usual due date for payment of 1 June.
