Australia’s most threatened beach-nesting bird needs all the help it can get, so two Hooded Plover conservation workshops will be held in Normanville for those interested in lending a hand.
Hoodies on the Beach will be held on Saturday 24 September from 10am to 12noon. Learn all about their birds and their behaviours; watch video footage of chicks and find out how to help them out.
Helping Hooded Plovers will be held on Saturday 8 October from 10am to 12noon. This will take a more in-depth look at the life of these birds, looking at how to monitor them safely and how to become a Hoodie volunteer.
Each workshop will be held at the Normanville Hotel and will be followed by a half-hour beach trip.
Hooded Plover enthusiasts are welcome to attend one or both workshops. Register by contacting Wendy White on 0413 918 085 or via email by 22 September for workshop one and 6 October for workshop two.
The free workshops are run by BirdLife Australia and Green Adelaide’s Sharing our Shores team, supported by the Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Board and funded from the National Landcare Program.
