The City of Victor Harbor library will be the first on the Fleurieu to open its doors to the community from 10am tomorrow, Wednesday 13 May.
The reopening comes under strict conditions, to comply with the state and federal governments’ three-step process for lifting COVID-19 restrictions.
Library visitors will be able to browse and borrow; use computers for no more than 30 minutes; print, scan and photocopy; and get help to access information and digital services.
A maximum of 10 people will be allowed in to the Library at a time, with social distancing enforced. All visitors will have to provide contact details when they enter the library in case contact-tracing information is later needed.
Mayor Moira Jenkins spoke on Facebook to ask library users to be patient with the interim system and to remember their hand washing and social distancing.
“No sitting down to read the paper or enjoy a cuppa just yet.”
The Victor Harbor library will maintain its click and collect service and home delivery service for those remaining isolated.

Other Fleurieu libraries are still working on how to restore services under the state government’s lifting of restrictions from May 11.
Alexandrina Council is looking to start offering a click and collect service as a prelude to reopening the full service.
Onkaparinga and Yankalilla library services remain closed until further notice.
Swimming pools face similar logistical difficulties in working out how to reopen with limited numbers and social distancing.
There is no word yet on when the Fleurieu Aquatic Centre, the Strathalbyn Pool or the Noarlunga Leisure Centre Pool will reopen.
Meanwhile many south coast cafes took advantage of the autumn sunshine to offer outdoor dining to small numbers under the 11 May changes, until the wintry weather hit this afternoon.
