Recent visitors to the Victor Harbor library will have noticed a construction zone where the computer room and meeting room used to be.
The City of Victor Harbor has been making improvements to its library to make the much-loved community facility even better.
At its October 2020 meeting, the council agreed to forge forward with improvements to the Victor Harbor Library to address recommendations from its recent service review to address noise issues.
The upgrade of library facilities was flagged in the council’s Long Term Financial Plan and Asset Management Plans to take place from 2021/22, however acknowledging the importance of the service to the community the project was brought forward to 2020/21.
The first stage of the improvements, budgeted at $55,000, has been completed and library staff say the improvement in noise control is very noticeable.
A further $360,000 has been set aside to start stage two in mid-2021 and works will continue into the new financial year.
The library will close for Christmas at 2pm on Thursday 24 December and will reopen on Monday 4 January.
