It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, with colourful light displays switching on all over the Fleurieu.
One stalwart of the season is Teresa and Barrie Ninnes’s place in Heysen Parade in Hayborough.
They have been making a huge effort at Christmas for more than 30 years, including nine at Middleton and the last three in Hayborough, lighting up the neighbourhood for the benefit of the whole community.
“Each year it just gets bigger!” Teresa says.
“People need to stop their car and come into our garage and see the magic of Christmas. This is the second year that we have opened up our garage for people to walk through.”
This year they have added a snowman photo board, for visitors to take their family Christmas photos.
Another highlight is the community Christmas tree, where anyone can add a homemade decoration, and there are lollies and colouring pages for the children.
A table of handmade gifts is available for Christmas giving and there is a wishing well for donations to the Caring Neighbourhood Program.
“My parents originally had the Magic Cave in Jamestown, so I guess we have inherited their passion for Christmas,” Teresa says.
The Heysen Parade lights go on at 8.30pm every night until 31 December.
