Local businesses receive boost from RDA grants

The Regional Development Australia (RDA) Hills, Fleurieu, and Kangaroo Island has announced the recipients of its 2024 Hills & Coast Business Grants, marking another successful year of supporting local manufacturing businesses. Thanks to the support of corporate partners Thomas Foods International and Fleurieu Milk Company, the funding pool has more than doubled this year, rising from $40,000 to $85,000. Individual grants are now available up to $20,000 in matched funding.


This year's grants will support a range of productivity and growth initiatives across the Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu Peninsula, and Kangaroo Island. The funding will be used for:

  • Expanding production capabilities with larger tanks and advanced filtration systems.
  • Upgrading and enhancing machinery for improved efficiency.
  • Acquiring new production line equipment and bottling systems.
  • Improving workshop conditions with better heating, lighting, and dust extraction.
  • Upsizing processing equipment to meet increased demand.


The recipients of these grants include businesses from around the Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island:

  • Peninsula Providore Farm (Alexandrina Council): Specializes in producing gourmet food products from local ingredients.
  • Kauppila Pty Ltd (Kangaroo Island Council): Known for its high-quality agriculture and food production.
  • Wrapping Hood (Kangaroo Island Council): Focuses on eco-friendly packaging solutions.
  • Emu Ridge Eucalyptus (Kangaroo Island Council): Renowned for its eucalyptus oil and related products.
  • The Garden Farmers (City of Onkaparinga - McLaren Vale Preservation District): Provides fresh, locally grown produce with sustainable farming practices.


With a total project value exceeding $200,000, these grants are set to drive significant advancements in local manufacturing capabilities. The RDA is enthusiastic about the future outcomes and the continued growth of these promising businesses.
