Local history brought to life

Author Anthony Laube will discuss his book Under Peeralilla at the Victor Harbor library on Thursday 20 May from 6pm.

Anthony is a librarian at the State Library of South Australia and an author with a passion for local and family history.

Born in Victor Harbor, his family has lived on the Fleurieu since the 1860s.

Under Peeralilla describes the history of the European settlement of Hindmarsh Valley and includes biographies of some 200 families and individuals who have farmed and lived at the Valley since 1838.

Originally Hindmarsh Valley designated all the area from the source of the river at Hindmarsh Tiers down to the coast, including what is now Victor Harbor.

While mostly a farming district, there was also a school and chapel in the Valley.

Anthony Laube’s talk is a free event, with books available for purchase and signing - $25 cash.

Bookings are essential via Eventbrite
