Local Man Loses Licence

A 52-year-old Middleton man has lost his licence after being caught drink driving on Hero Avenue on Tuesday evening.

Police stopped the man’s Nissan van just after 6 pm on October 1 for a random breath test. The man returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.253, more than four times the legal limit. Further checks revealed he was also medically suspended from driving.

The driver was reported for drink driving and driving while disqualified. He has been issued an immediate 12-month loss of licence, and his van has been impounded for 28 days. The man will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
