The City of Victor Harbor has called on the community to share positive stories and experiences from 2020 to celebrate Neighbour Day.
Led by the council’s Caring Neighbourhood Program, the initiative will help to highlight local acts of compassion in the lead up to Neighbour Day on Sunday 28 March.
Neighbour Day is Australia’s annual celebration of community, encouraging people to connect with their neighbours.
Although the previous twelve months have been challenging for many, it has also been a time when neighbourhoods have unified and flourished in light of unprecedented circumstances.
The council has launched #LoveYourNeighbourhood to gather positive stories and experiences from 2020.
Whether it was baking a meal for a friend, having a cuppa over the fence with a neighbour, or receiving a thoughtful phone call from a loved one, they would like to hear about it.
The community will be able to write their stories and experiences on provided cards and pin them to a designated display board.
The #LoveYourNeighbourhood board will be on display and open for contributions from today 1 March until 31 March in the Civic Centre foyer on 1 Bay Road.
It will also be on display at Victor Central near Flight Centre on 26 March 2021.
Stories and experiences can also be shared via Your Say Victor Harbor.
