Plans to build a new 124 room luxury hotel in McLaren Vale have been lodged with the City of Onkaparinga. The plans are for a mostly vacant site at 212 Seaview Road, next to Bekkers Wine.
The designers, Loucas Zahos Architects, describe the proposed facility as a luxury resort with an epicurean restaurant, function centre, meeting rooms and a Swiss-style wellness centre.
They say the hotel, “will become a destination facility for Southern Vales exploration, functions, weddings and conferences.”
The plans have been lodged by construction company Expoconti Pty Ltd for the site’s owners Primefield Investments Pty Ltd. The site was purchased for $2.3 million in 2018.
The accommodation facilities would be made up of two-storey pods to be fabricated off-site. Care will be taken to retain established trees on the site with the architects pledging that if any trees have to be removed they will be replaced by two more.
These are the second plans for a luxury resort in McLaren to be lodged with the City of Onkaparinga within six months.
Wirra Wirra and developer Greaton have approval to build a 22 room, five-star development on their holdings on Strout Road. The plans also include a swimming pool, wellness centre and function hall. Building is expected to begin in the second half of 2020 and be completed by 2022.
Plans for the category three Seaview Road development will be available on the City of Onkaparinga's website until 26 February
