Magpies close in on top-two in Great Southern Women's 'A' Grade

Goolwa/Port Elliot kept the pressure on for a top-two spot in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) FPAG ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition after defeating Victor Harbor by 36 points at a wet and windy Encounter Bay on Sunday. The Magpies prevailed 5.8 (38) to 0.2 (2). Best players for Goolwa/Port Elliot were Renee Moon, Ellie Fry, Kerrie-ann Moon, Tessa Grant and Tayla Hoad.

NB: At the time of publication, no best players had been supplied for Victor Harbor.


McLaren Districts won their seventh game of the season following a 72-point win against Myponga-Sellicks at McLaren Vale last Friday night. Scores were level at 1.3 (9) apiece at quarter time, but from then on it was all McLaren Districts. The Eagles kicked 11 goals to zero in the final three quarters to win 12.11 (83) to 1.5 (11). Tiffany Copley (4), Kiahni Russell (3) and Layla Rogers (2) were the leading goalkickers for the Eagles, while Emily Steele kicked the Mudlarks only goal. Best players for the victorious Eagles were Copley, Katrina Munzberg, Rogers, Kiera Harvey and Gwen Humphreys. Best players for the Mudlarks were Nari Wright, Charlie Shaw-McMillan, Steele, Molly Agnew and Kailey Webb. 


Reigning Willunga sealed the minor premiership with a comfortable 56-point win against Yankalilla/Encounter Bay Stingrays at Encounter Bay on Sunday. The game was all but over after the first quarter where the Demons led by 33 points. Willunga kicked three second-half goals to win 8.9 (57) to 0.1 (1). Jessica Harris and Abby Woodward kicked two goals each for Willunga, while their best players included Tessa Kohn, Jodie Hunt, Ada Anninos, Lauren Clifton and Abby Woodward. Best players for the Stingrays were Chloe Howlett, Jemima Althorp, Jaimi Griffen, Tegan Cross and Kimberley Rowe.
