Magpies consolidate top-four spot in Great Southern Women's Football

Goolwa/Port Elliot consolidated their spot in the top-four after a comprehensive 82-point win against Victor Harbor during round nine action in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition today. Indiana Quaremba (4), Jessica Bailey (3) and Kalani Bates (2) were the leading goalkickers for the Magpies as they won 11.17 (83) to 0.1 (1). Best players for Goolwa/Port Elliot were Ellie Fry, Bates, Quaremba, Amber McKinlay, Megan Hoad and Breanna Maynard.


Willunga stayed on top of the ladder with an 85-point win against Yankalilla/Encounter Bay at Victor Harbor today. The Demons jumped out the blocks to lead by 38 points at quarter time, 52 points at halftime, and 58 points at the last change, before winning 12.9 (81) to 0.2 (2). Willunga vice-captain Tamara Page was the standout forward on the field with seven goals, while Jodie Hunt and Emily Cooper kicked two goals each. Best players for the reigning premiers included Caitlin Radbone, Courtney Gutschmidt, Jessica Kirk, Hunt, Bella Rigby and Page. Chloe Howlett, Matisse Hunter, Delia Althorp, Tyler Rigney Garrett, Bella Walden and Tahlia Parsons were named in the best players for the Stingrays.


McLaren Districts consolidated their spot in the top-two with a come-from-behind win against Myponga-Sellicks at Myponga today. A huge upset appeared a possibility as the Mudlarks led by four points at halftime, before the Eagles steadied in the second half to win 5.8 (38) to 3.1 (19). Lisa Whiteley kicked two goals for McLaren Districts, as did Courtney Gum for the Mudlarks. Best players for McLaren Districts were Katrina Munzberg, Layla Rogers, Whiteley, Taylah Scapens, Donna Boal and Kiera Harvey. Myponga-Sellicks were best served by Nari Wright, Caitlin Ross, Imogen Harney, Ally Bailey, Chloe Boileau and Mandy Gay.
