Magpies swoop to sixth win of the season in the Great Southern Women's competition

Goolwa/Port Elliot consolidated a spot in the top-four following their 16-point win against Strathalbyn during round ten action in the FPAG ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition in the Great Southern Football League this afternoon. The Magpies led by three points at halftime, before winning 2.10 (22) to 1.0 (6). Kalani Bates kicked both of the Magpies’ goals, while Lily Jenke kicked the Roosters’ only major. Lucy Earl, Bates, Megan Hoad, Kaya Angus and Amber McKinlay were named as best players for Goolwa/Port Elliot. Best for Strathalbyn were Georgie Pater, Katie Ehlers, Tess Huxtable, Heidi Groom and Emma Chapman. 


McLaren Eagles stayed in second spot on the ladder with a comfortable 50-point win against Mount Compass at McLaren Vale today. The Eagles led by 20 points at quarter time, 35 points at halftime and 38 points at the last change, before winning 7.11 (53) to 0.3 (3). Katie Whish, Ally Bailey, Jessica Veasey, Tiffany Copley and Tahlita Buethke were best for the Eagles. Sally Fuller, Sheena Peters and Lauren Reynolds kicked two goals each for McLaren. Best for ‘Compass’ included Kiahni Russell, Brooke Boileau and Caroline Scott.


Yankalilla notched their first win of the season with a nine-point victory against Victor Harbor at Strathalbyn. The final scores were Yankalilla 4.0 (24) to Victor Harbor 2.3 (15). Lisa Henley, Natasha Hunt, Tara Hutchinson and Tahlia Parsons were Yankalilla’s goalkickers, while Courtney Barry and Natasha Fairhurst kicked Victor Harbor’s goals. Best players for a jubilant Tigers outfit were Kelesha Rewiti-Edwards, Parsons, Amelia Bilney, Hutchinson and Kimberley Rowe. Courtney Barry, Maya Overall and Aloura Kirk were among the best players for Victor Harbor. 


Willunga had the bye.
